CoroBore® 825

Fine boring tools for high-precision boring

CoroBore® 825

Requirement: Tool pre-setter

Mounting of cartridge

  1. Fit cartridge to the elliptical interface placed on the cross slide at the fine boring head
  2. Tighten cartridge screw to recommended torque. See handling instruction below to get the recommended tightening torque for the clamping screw

Mounting of cartridge for back boring

  1. Remove grub screw from top cutting fluid outlet and attach it into the lower cutting fluid outlet
  2. Mount slide extension when needed
  3. Rotate cartridge 180° and fit cartridge to cross slide or slide extension
  4. Tighten cartridge screw to recommended torque, see handling instruction below

Note: When slide extension is used, the longer screw supplied with the slide extension must be used! Direction of rotation must be reversed when back boring! Check tool length and length of the adaptor. Make sure the boring tool will go through the hole with the shoulder and that the front of the boring tool does not.

Tool setting of diameter

  1. Mount insert
  2. Set tool pre-setter to required diameter
  3. Place tool in pre-setter
  4. Rotate tool to obtain largest diameter on display
  5. Unlock locking screw
  6. Retract cartridge by turning dial anti-clockwise to facilitate setting from smaller to larger diameter
  7. Set diameter by turning dial clockwise. To adjust the fine boring mechanism, see handling instruction below
  8. Tighten locking screw to recommended torque, see handling instruction below
  9. Check diameter and length of tool in the tool pre-setter. If possible, transfer tool data to machine control system

Note: For CoroBore® 825 EH the adjustment ranges are:
C3, shank 04, 06, 08 = 1 mm radially
C4, shank 10 = 1.5 mm radially

Back boring with CoroBore® 825 Silent Tools™

Slide extension for increased diameter range and extension of back boring cartridges

  • An additional slide extension is needed in order to not collide with the tool
  • Offers the same internal coolant flow to the cutting edge as with conventional boring

How to adjust the fine boring head

  1. Unlock slide
  2. Adjust diameter
  3. Lock slide
  4. Check result

Note: Always adjust from smaller to bigger diameter. If you over stroke, go some distance back to eliminate eventual play in the mechanism, and approach decided setting diameter from the inside again.

Setting scale for the fine boring head

  • One full turn of the scale will move the insert 0.25 mm (0.010 inch) radially, e.g 0.5 mm (0.02 inch) on diameter
  • The dial has 50 divisions, representing 0.010 mm (0.0004 inch)/ diameter. The vernier has 5 divisions, making it possible to adjust the diameter by 0.002 mm (0.00008 inch)
