Circularity

Advancing circularity and resource efficiency for circular value chains

We will drive circularity and resource efficiency, doing more with less and working towards circular value chains. We minimize waste and environmental impact throughout the value chain by reconditioning products, as well as reducing, reusing, and implementing recycled materials in products and production. We also help our customers and suppliers improve their sustainable practices and guide them on their journey by offering to recycle with our buy-back program, recondition solid carbide round tools, and reduce materials and waste by improving tool performance and reliability. By taking these steps, we can help create a more sustainable future for the industry.

Our approach

We advance circular value chains, meeting customer needs across material input, design, service models, and resource recovery. In design, we select durable materials for reuse, increase recycled content, and explore biobased options. Our product-as-a-service includes solutions where customers pay for functionality. We also enhance longevity through optimized tools, programming methods, and refurbishment. In the resource recovery phase, we focus on preserving value post-use which is essential in completing the circularity loop.

This approach boosts resource efficiency, cuts waste and costs, extends product lifetimes, and drives profitability through digital innovation.

Our goals

100%

buy-back by 2028

20%

increased amount of mechanical
recycled content for legacy grades

70%

increased amount of mechanical recycled
content for new grades by 2028

Our initiatives

To ensure the use of recycled materials, we increase the buy-back of our products and enhance the recycling efficiency in our processes.

To drive circularity in our industry we need to take a circular approach throughout our operations. We are working towards 90% waste circularity by increasing resource efficiency, reusing, and recycling materials.

At our site in Katowice, we have started a successful collaboration with our suppliers to return super hard material plastic packages in order to reduce waste, environmental fees, and plastic disposal costs.

Circular solutions

We have set a goal to buy back 100% of used carbide tools by 2028 for recycling purposes. Our products, predominantly made from carbide—a compound of carbon and tungsten—face limited tungsten reserves, estimated to last about 100 years. By recycling used carbide from old metal cutting tools, we can manufacture new ones, minimizing the need for raw materials and reducing environmental impact.

Our reconditioning centers extend the lifespan of solid round tools, such as carbide drills and end mills, restoring them to original quality and prolonging their total lifecycle. This process not only maximizes the utilization of raw materials in manufacturing but also reduces cutting tool costs for customers.
