Productivity is not only influenced by grade and geometry, but also by the ability to clamp the tool securely and precisely. For best stability and hole quality always use Coromant Capto or CoroChuck 930 with the shortest possible drill and overhang.
Coolant supply influences: Internal coolant is necessary for hole depths larger than 3 x DC and for avoiding chip jamming.
The machine influences: Always consider:

- Avoid low feed rates
- Reduce feed by a factor of x0.1 to break into exit cross hole and for angled faces
- Speeds and feeds, and methods, are to be used as a starting point. Final set-up will be application dependent

- Recommended to use on drill lengths above 12xD

The range of drills for deep holes has a complementary range of high performance pilot drills.
The pilot drills are designed to work with the deep hole drills to give maximum accuracy in drill location and minimum hole run out. Due to the body tolerance being p7, applying a pilot drill strategy will also extend tool life of the deep hole drill.
