Overview

First Choice for general and repeated shoulder milling

True 90° cuts without sharp steps

Precise cutter body and insert location along with a low-vibration machining process provide true 90° shoulders without mismatch.

High precision and good tolerances

Sharp edge lines and burr-free, smooth profiles, which also efficiently reduces the need for a finishing operation.

Positive concept with light cutting action

The light cutting performance provides an excellent surface finish and optimal utilization of low-powered machine tools. This also facilitates use of the cutter on extended tool assemblies.

Milling in demanding materials

Milling in hardened steel poses a number of challenges to your machining. The cutting tool material needs to have good resistance to plastic deformation, chemical stability at high temperatures, mechanical strength and resistance to abrasive wear. CoroMill® 490 is available with ceramic and CBN inserts dedicated for machining in hardened steel.

  • CC6190 is a hard silicon nitride ceramic insert for light roughing to semi-finishing of chilled cast iron in stable and dry conditions
  • CB50 is a hard CBN-tipped grade for semi-finishing to finishing in stable and dry conditions. Use when dimensional stability and long tool life are crucial
