Turning inserts and grades for steel

Whether you are looking for turning insert grades for unmanned production or custom-made components, we have reliable insert grades that offer a predictable tool life, high machine utilization, and the surface quality you need.

GC4425, GC4415 and GC4405

The new generation steel turning insert grades GC4425, GC4415 and GC4405 deliver all-round improved performance. Coated with second generation Inveio® technology, they have a broad range of applications and are recommended for continuous and interrupted cuts.

The first choice grade GC4425 offers improved wear resistance, heat resistance and toughness in a wide application range. Grade GC4415 complements GC4425 with enhanced performance when more heat resistance is needed. Grade GC4405 is the first choice for high metal removal rates in stable conditions where plastic deformation properties are demanding.

Toughness and wear resistance combined

New substrate provides a unique combination of toughness and resistance against plastic deformation, an indispensable feature for reliable machining.

Demo: High feed roughing with GC4405

GC4405 offers outstanding plastic deformation resistance for exceptional productivity and long time in cut, especially in harder steels above 300 HB. Dry machining is possible in softer steels.

GC4425 and GC4415 vs. competitors

With an average tool life increase of 25%, GC4425 and GC4415 deliver results that outperform competitors.

Find your grade

Our steel insert grade assortment consists of CVD- and PVD-coated carbide grades for various machining conditions. Use the information below to find the right grade for your production. Higher productivity (vc) means increased plastic deformation and crater wear resistance. Chipping resistance and edge line security are dependent on how stable the machining conditions are.
