The challenge

As the alloys and composite materials used in the aircraft and aerospace industry became more complex, metal cutting became more difficult, and bottlenecks grew more frequent in the subsidiary. Guesswork and trial-and-error processes wasted raw materials and tools, causing the production unit to habitually overshoot its budgets. This had negative consequences:
