The challenge

As the alloys and composite materials used in the aircraft and aerospace industry became more complex, metal cutting became more difficult and bottlenecks increased in the subsidiary. Guesswork and trial-and-error processes wasted raw materials and tools, causing the production unit to habitually overshoot its budgets. This had negative consequences:

The solution

The subsidiary urgently needed to improve the technical know-how of its staff and develop their skills in working with hard-to-cut materials. The Sandvik Coromant experts had the solution. The program began with metal cutting training theory, followed by high-level training and finally case studies in total workpiece solutions.
