M5R90
M5R90 – A new solution for roughing and semi-finishing of aluminum automotive parts

Concept description
M5R90 is the First Choice for roughing to semi-finishing in shoulder milling operations of automotive aluminum components, such as cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, and transmission housings.
The cutter works with adjustable cartridges and supports a depth of cut of up to 8 mm (0.315 inch) with a 0.4 or 0.8 mm (0.016 or 0.031 inch) radius, depending on the cartridge used.
This cutter performs well in roughing to semi-finishing operations, where it is possible to reach a finishing surface of 4 Rz or higher. For greater demands in surface finishing or waviness, M5B90 is more appropriate.

Features and benefits
- The cutter body is produced in a special aluminum alloy combining low weight with high toughness
- High density cutter is balanced with 10,000 rpm in a G2.5 class. This allows it to run at high speed without compromising the machine spindles
- The PCD tips are brazed in a steel cartridge, which allows axial adjustments
- The PCD tips can be reground up to three times, ensuring prolonged tool life
- Several cutting edge geometries are available
Application
- Roughing to semi-finishing of aluminum and non-ferrous alloys
- Cutter diameter range of 63–250 mm (2.48–9.84 inch)
- PCD cartridges come in four different cutting edge geometries. Depending on the cartridge used, the cutter produces a cutting depth of up to 8 mm (0.315 inch) with a 0.4 or 0.8 mm (0.016 or 0.031 inch) radius
